Bring in Catering

There is a reason that they say “the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach.” Food is a universal crowd-pleaser and a surefire way to make your employees happy. This Employee Appreciation Day, pick either breakfast or lunch and provide this meal for your workers. If you decide on breakfast, you could order a lavish bagel and pastry spread or even bring in a chef and a grill to cook made-to-order omelettes. A great idea for catering lunch is something fun and interactive, like a make-your-own taco or burrito feature. If you are looking for a place to start, Chipotle offers great catering packages to do so. Just be sure to tell your employees the day before which meal you are providing so they make sure to not bring in their own.

Give out Prizes

Like food, everyone enjoys getting a prize or a gift. A great way to acknowledge EAD is by giving out tokens of your appreciation. A unique and fun way to do so is by having people in the office vote on superlatives, and then giving prizes out to the winners. For example, you could have categories like “best dressed” or “most positive.” This list is a great place to garner some superlative category inspiration. Print it out and have your employees fill in their votes in the morning, then tally them and give out the prizes at the end of the day. You could also award merit-based prizes for things like “highest sales.” Some prize ideas include a gift card, a tumbler, a bottle of wine, headphones, etc.

Alter the Timeline

No matter how happy an employee is at their job, they still would most likely prefer to not be in the office. Allow your employees a little extra personal time on Employee Appreciation Day by calling for either a late arrival or an early dismissal. Maybe you want to let everyone come in an hour later so they can sleep in and eat breakfast with their families. Or, you could allow everyone to leave a half hour early so they can beat traffic or make it to happy hour. Regardless of the time of day you choose, employees will greatly appreciate the little extra time off.

Though an employer may know that they appreciate their employees everyday, the employees may not always know that. EAD is an amazing way to show your workers just how grateful you are. While there are a multitude of things you can do for this holiday, a great place to start is with OFFSITE’s Employee Appreciation Day ideas.
